Developing a Global Perspective for Educators

2010/2011 Social Action Project: Matthew House

As part of our Schooling and Society class, we were asked to create a Social Action Project in connection with a cause that we wanted to support. As a group we went to Matthew House Ottawa and came up with some ideas of how we could get involved. Matthew House is a not-for-profit organization which supports refugee claimants upon arrival into Canada. Our main objectives for this project were to fundraise for various financial needs of the organization, and to promote awareness about volunteer opportunities and events connected with Matthew House. The experience was fantastic and we learned what can be accomplished when passionate people come together and work towards a great cause.
